Tim Brown – Advisory Board Member

Tim Brown is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football for Notre Dame, where he won the Heisman Trophy.

Mr. Brown was selected by the Los Angeles Raiders with the 6th overall pick of the 1988 NFL Draft. He spent 16 years with the Raiders, during which he established himself as one of the League’s most prolific wide receivers. His fame and success with the Raider’s organization earned him the title, Mr. Raider.

Mr. Brown is a 9-time Pro Bowl selection, 1987 Heisman Trophy Winner (first wide receiver to win the award), 1987 Walter Camp Award Winner and was part of the NFL 1990’s All Decade Team. He is a Fox Sports Network NFL Analyst and has been featured on Comcast’s “Pro Football Now”, “News America” and various Superbowl broadcasts.

Mr. Brown is heavily involved in the “9-1-1 for Kids” program which teaches children emergency preparedness. He is also ambassador to the President’s Physical Fitness Council and is currently starting a NASCAR racing team as part of their Drive for Diversity program. Judge Harold C. Gaither, Jr. – Advisory Board Member

Judge Gaither is a Senior State District Judge in Texas, and has held that position since 2003. From 1987 to 2002, he served as State District Judge of the 304th District Court, in Dallas, Texas. Serving at the time as one of Dallas County’s two juvenile court judges, Judge Gaither ruled on numerous high profile cases. For ten years prior to becoming a judge, he was Assistant District Attorney in Dallas, Texas. Judge Gaither is a regular lecturer at the University of Texas at Dallas, conducting classes on Juvenile Law and Procedure.

Judge Gaither was Governor George W. Bush’s chief advisor during the 1996 rewrite of the juvenile code, an effort that dropped the age a juvenile can be certified, as an adult, to 14. That rewrite expanded the determinate sentencing statutes (offenses that usually involve violent crime) to keep minors in juvenile detention for longer periods of time, instead of sending them to adult prison. Gaither is author of numerous books and articles, including: “Defending the Child in Court”, State Bar of Texas Publication: 1986; “Texas Juvenile Court Judge’s Benchbook”, Texas Center for the Judiciary: 1992; and “Texas Practice Services, Volume 29 – Juvenile Law”, West Publishing Company: 1998 to present.

Judge Gaither served on multiple boards, commissions, and committees at the city, county, state, and national level including Board Member, Texas CASA, 1990 to present; Member of the Juvenile Court Judge’s Sub-Committee of the Judicial Committee of the State Bar of Texas, 1998 to present; Secretary of the Western Coalition of the National Coalition for Juvenile Justice, 1999; Member of the Youth Commission and Youth Advisory Committee, 1994 to 2002. Well respected in the community and legal circles, Gaither is often a featured speaker or panelist at conferences nationwide.

Gaither served as First Lieutenant, U.S. Army Airborne Artillery. He received a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and a law degree from Southern Methodist University. Gaither is a member of the Dallas Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas.

Dr. Michael Blackmon – Advisory Board Member

Dr. Michael Blackmon has practiced Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in the Metroplex since 2002 after finishing his training at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

He has served in a number of leadership roles in North Texas including Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, Medical Staff President at Integra Hospital of Plano, Medical Director for Regency Hospital of North Dallas. He is now the Medical Director for Select Specialty Hospital of North Dallas. Additionally, his practice, Southwest Pulmonary Associates, is responsible for management of the Intensive Care Units at Presbyterian Hospitals of Plano, Dallas, and Allen. Dr. Blackmon co-directs the efforts in Plano and Allen.

Dr. Blackmon’s clinical interests center around the treatment of the critically ill patient, including management of respiratory failure. He maintains an active outpatient practice in addition to a busy hospital schedule and is involved in the education of students at various levels of medical education. He is also interested in hospital quality measures and outcomes research regarding critically ill patients.

He is involved in multiple community outreach endeavors. He received the Texas Health Resources award for Outstanding Community Service by a Physician for 2010. In addition to volunteering his time to teach students, Dr. Blackmon serves his local church as a physician and participates in regularly scheduled medical missions to Northern Mexico. Dr. Blackmon, his wife and 5 sons live in Frisco.

Nancy P. Patterson – Advisory Board Member

Nancy Patterson, a Dallas native, attended Wellesley College, received her undergraduate degree with honors from University of Texas, and graduated from Southern Methodist University Law School where she was a member of Law Review, Journal of Air, Law, and Commerce. She has been licensed with the State Bar of Texas since 1982. She began her career as an associate with Liddell, Sapp, Zivley, Brown & LaBoon focusing on the real estate and banking sectors. She commenced her own private practice in 1984 and collaborated with a North Dallas developer performing title services and handling in-house complex commercial real estate transactions.

Nancy affiliated with Fidelity National Title in 1992 and achieved stellar success from 1994-2007 as the Top Producing “Fee Attorney” Office amidst 52 offices. Although Fidelity no longer bestows awards to the fee attorney offices, Nancy and her “state of the art” staff continue to receive commendations for exemplary service and production. Today, her law firm concentrates on real estate contracts, foreclosure, title curative including probate, divorce, litigation, IRS issues and simple estate planning documentation. Nancy also acts as a 1031 facilitator under the tax free exchange section of the IRC, handling the document preparation, notices, agreements and exchange, accounting, and administration. Her vastly diversified expertise includes execution of multi-state/multi-asset sales for public companies.

Since the late 1980’s she has handled thousands of residential, commercial, hospitality and agricultural, both improved and unimproved, real estate transactions nationwide.

Denny Rogers – Advisory Board Member

Denny Rogers, a Louisiana native, has 28 years of experience in the automotive retail sector. After graduating from the University of Louisiana in 1981, he began his career in Lafayette, Louisiana. Denny then spent nearly 11 years as General Manager/Partner at Lake Charles Dodge Chrysler and Jeep in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He has been in the Shreveport/Bossier City market for 14 years. During that time, he spent 7 years as President of United Auto Dodge in Shreveport (a division of Penske Automotive Group). Since 2004, Denny has been the Managing Partner of Landers Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Bossier City (a subsidiary of RLJ McLarty Landers Automotive). Under Denny’s leadership, this location has been recognized as the number one volume sales leader for Dodge Chrysler Jeep sales in the State of Louisiana for the past three years, and it also was recognized as the Bossier Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year in 2010. His organization has received numerous manufacturer awards for sales volume, customer satisfaction and sales satisfaction indexes, including Chrysler’s highest recognition Five Star Elite, Charger and Pacesetter.

Denny served as President of the SunBelt Dodge Dealers Pension Fund for 10 years, representing participating dealers in Mississippi and Louisiana. He is currently President of the SunBelt Dodge Dealers Advertising Association (since 2001) where he oversees annual advertising budget expenditures of up to $19 million. Denny has represented the Louisiana Dodge dealers on the Regional Dealer Council for the past 10 years, and he is serving his second year as the Louisiana Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealers representative on the National Dealer Council. He is also one of eight National Appointees and serves on the Service and Parts Subcommittee.

Denny is an advocate for children, families and local student athletes, having recognized over 550 student athletes over the past 11 years for their prowess in the classroom, community and athletics. His community involvement includes the Shreveport/Bossier City Rescue Mission, Providence House, Operation A+, and the Summer Reading Festival, which supports over 6,000 local second grade students and numerous school organizations. Denny is married and has 5 children.

Brenda Dash – Advisory Board Member

With over 15 years experience in advertising and marketing, Brenda Dash began her career in 1993 as the in-house Advertising Director for Ranger Insurance Company, which specialized in commercial property & casualty insurance. Her knowledge and understanding of the creative needs of business enabled her to later join a regional Houston-based advertising agency as lead Account Executive, a position held through 2003. During her time with that agency, she excelled in the disciplines of client relations, account management, project management, marketing and media strategy, and creative direction.

In 2004, as a result of opening the Houston office for a Dallas-based automotive advertising agency, Brenda found a passion for the automotive industry. Since that time, she has worked with a broad range of franchises including Ford, Lincoln, Chevy, GMC, Buick, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Honda, Volkswagen and Acura. In late 2008 Brenda transitioned into the retail side of the automotive industry and has successfully created a niche utilizing the Internet to drive vehicle sales through the development of Internet departments, and the execution of web, social media and integration strategies. Mrs. Dash has held various corporate positions including eCommerce & Marketing Director for a sixteen store group, Internet and Website Development Director for a seven store group, and in-store Internet Director for three stores. Brenda is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design.
